Entrepreneurial intention of matric commerce students: An empirical study

Background: In the first quarter of 2021, official unemployment rate in South Africa was 32.6%. Among young persons between ages 15 and 34, figure 46.3%. One two people labour market are unemployed, Entrepreneurship is widely recognised as an effective mechanism to address tripartite challenges unemployment, inequality, poverty.Aim: The study’s aim look into factors that influence matric commerce students’ entrepreneurial intentions rural KwaZulu-Natal, Africa.Setting: A survey conducted among students 11 districts KwaZulu-Natal.Methods: study based on a sample 433 from students, Africa. Data were gathered through self-administered questionnaire using five-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis structural equation modelling performed data.Results: results show attitude towards entrepreneurship, self-efficacy education key drivers intention. found no evidence innovativeness driver intention.Conclusion: recommends department basic should develop strategies will help innovative creative embrace entrepreneurship. This because entrepreneurs typically operate perfect conditions, with homogeneous products freedom entry exit, so critical.
